Bernard Kyei Baffour, affectionately known as Ben Kay, is a contemporary artistic photographer and conceptual filmmaker whose work explores Afrocentric storytelling through compelling visual narratives. Born in Accra, Ghana, and creatively nurtured in Kumasi, Ben Kay’s passion for multimedia emerged in 2011 during his time at Kumasi Academy Senior High School, setting the stage for his artistic evolution.

He earned a Higher National Diploma (HND) and a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Graphics (Multimedia) from Takoradi Technical University (TTU), Ghana. During his studies, he exhibited exceptional leadership as Media Chair for the Faculty of Applied Arts and Technology (2018–2020) and the SRC Women’s Commission (2020–2021). In 2021, he was honored with the Videographer of the Decade award at the TTU SRC Excellence Awards.

In 2022, Bernard received a partial International Talent Scholarship to pursue a Master of Arts in Film and Television at Falmouth University, United Kingdom, completing the program in 2023. His time in the UK expanded his artistic reach, allowing him to delve deeper into artistic photography, moving images and conceptual film rooted in African perspectives.

He is the co-founder of Snaphactory Media House (established in 2019), where he led the videography department until 2022, helping shape the company into a respected creative force. He also founded Ghab Photographic Equip Hub, a resource initiative supporting fellow creatives with access to photographic gear and tools.

Bernard has worked with reputable media companies in Accra and Kumasi, including Capture and Modern Media Concept, gaining hands-on experience and strengthening his industry connections. His technical expertise is supported by professional certifications in Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Premiere Pro, all acquired in 2023. All of this has prepared him to confidently navigate his career path as an interdisciplinary artist, blending artistic photography, conceptual filmmaking, and Afrocentric visual storytelling with a strong foundation in both creative direction and post-production.

Deeply engaged with the creative community, Bernard continues to build artistic connections through volunteer work and collaborative projects. His ongoing involvement with cultural spaces like The Poly in Falmouth, United Kingdom and partnerships with painters and visual artists reflect his dedication to collective artistic growth and cultural exchange.
